In our beautiful synagogue stained glass windows form an arch around the Ark. These windows are a collaborative enterprise by one of the architects, Lewis Levin and designer Poncho Geddes – an ex-lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand and now retired and living in Portugal. Fed with information from Levin, Geddes was forced to take an abstract path and the subsequent designs were eventually placed on coloured glass to be cut and form the finished window. The colours used are mostly red and blue, yellow and white, with the exception of one window, which contains green glass.
